Carnyx is just us: two brothers who like making software, games, and websites. We work on this stuff in our spare time, and this site is where we put the things we've made.

Some projects are finished and live. Others are still in progress. When something is far enough along that we're okay showing it, it ends up here.

There isn't a company behind this, or a big plan for what comes next. We build what we're interested in, and see where it goes.

A few things people ask

What is “Carnyx”?

A carnyx was a bronze war trumpet used by Celtic tribes across Europe, mainly during the Iron Age and into the Roman period. It was a long instrument with an animal head at the end, often a boar, and it was built to carry over a lot of noise. You can still see surviving pieces in museums today. One of the better known finds came out of Deskford, in Scotland.

We both like history, and a lot of our ancestry comes from parts of Europe that were heavily Celtic. The name felt right for that reason. It was something we already cared about, and it seemed like a better choice than inventing a word.
